Clodagh Design
At the helm of Clodagh Design is a one-name wonder who has consistently and with visionary zeal conquered the world of design.
Named after a picturesque waterway in Ireland and raised in Oscar Wilde's summer home, Clodagh is known for her pioneering use of modalities such as Feng Shui, Chromotherapy, and sustainable materials, while drawing on global influences to create life enhancing designs that heal by means of her four C's (contemplate, cleanse, clarify, create).
Clodagh will apply her award winning aesthetic to the interior spaces of the Candela Hotels & Residences guest rooms and public spaces, which include the restaurant, spa, lobby and outdoor terraces. "We are nomads, cyber as well as physical, and the traveler today is looking for connections with one's distant family and friends or with a place they have never been before. We are searching for intrinsic connections with our environments and their support of our health and well-being. The Candela experience must of course be comfortable and convenient, but it must also become yours on a personal level. The guestrooms have user-controlled lighting, a place to easily stow luggage and personal items, and small elements that are thoughtful and unexpected. It should be like home only better!"
For the Candela Hotels & Residences, Seattle project, "I'm drawing on the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest and those qualities that make it distinct and memorable. The filtered aspect of the northern light coupled with the maritime climate of the region and the wealth of local artisans are all important factors in the design of the interior environment."
In 2008, Clodagh celebrates her 25th anniversary as a designer in New York. Her work has been recognized with numerous awards including Interior Design's Top 100 Interior Designers, the Interior Design Hall of Fame and induction into the prestigious Hospitality Design Platinum Circle. Clodagh has received numerous design industry awards for her work, recently the ISPA Visionary Award in 2007, and was named as one of the Robb Report's worldwide "40 Top Interior Designers". Her second book, Your Home Your Sanctuary, was released by Rizzoli in October 2008.
