Seattle, WA -- Tom Pigott CEO and President of Candela Hotels, Inc. was named one of Puget Sound Business Journal’s, “40 Under 40.”
The annual “40 Under 40” awards seeks to identify “people under the age of 40 who are center stage in our business community, working hard to drive the economy and demonstrating dynamic leadership,” said Becky Monk Managing Editor for the Puget Sound Business Journal.
Nominated by readers of the Journal, a panel of eight judges who are established leaders in the business community made the final selection from hundreds of nominees. Judges were tasked with examining everything from how long the person has been in business to his or her personal business philosophy and management style. They reviewed how applicants handled their most difficult business decisions, and looked for people who, on a personal level, go the extra mile with civic contributions.
In addition, demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit was a major criterion, with judges looking for “those who have struck out on their own and show great potential – who have a solid plan with the fortitude to bring it to fruition,” said Monk.
Pigott’s track record with start-ups including the establishment of Soma.com the first online pharmacy and his development of an innovative traveler-centric approach for Candela Hotels, a new luxury hotel brand, were highlighted by the judges, as well as his active involvement with numerous community and charitable organizations including his board membership with The Boy Scouts of America - Chief Seattle Council.
